Making Food Better for the Future

Building a more sustainable food manufacturing business

At Alamance Foods, sustainability is an ongoing area of focus across our business. We’re working to better understand our environmental impact, strengthen our environmental management practices, and explore opportunities for more sustainable products and packaging.

Sustainability

Better Food. Smarter Footprint.

Our sustainability approach focuses on three key areas: emissions reduction, environmental management, and responsible sourcing. Through measurement, research, operational practices, and collaboration, we’re continuing to explore opportunities to improve our environmental performance.

  • Emissions Reduction

Measuring our greenhouse gas emissions and identifying opportunities to reduce our environmental impact across our operations and value chain.

Measuring Today. Planning for Tomorrow.

At Alamance Foods, understanding our greenhouse gas emissions is an important part of our sustainability efforts. We track emissions and use established standards to better understand our environmental footprint. This information helps inform our emissions reduction strategies and long-term decarbonization planning.

Good Stewardship Starts With Good Systems

Environmental management is an important part of our sustainability efforts across our facilities. Our Environmental Management System is implemented across 100% of Alamance Foods facilities and supported by audits, employee training, and ongoing environmental performance monitoring. We also use real-time wastewater monitoring and integrated control systems designed to help prevent silo overflow and potential contamination events, with standard operating procedures and training supporting these practices.

Innovation That Starts With the Product

Sustainability is also part of our ongoing product development and R&D efforts. Alamance Foods is exploring recyclable and bio-based packaging alternatives, opportunities to reduce packaging weight, and lower-carbon ingredients and formulations. We’re also researching the life cycle impacts of aerosol products and collaborating with university researchers to better understand opportunities for improvement.

Always Looking for a Better Way

Sustainability is an ongoing process. At Alamance Foods, we’re continuing to measure our environmental impact, evaluate opportunities for improvement, and invest in research focused on sustainability across our operations and products.
